AION2 KINA does not require a visitor account. The site processes only the limited data needed to provide features, understand site use, and review correction reports.
What stays in my browser?
Google Analytics 4 analytics cookies are enabled by default on public pages; a separate language-preference cookie lasts for one year. Faction theme, checklist completion, map progress, favourites, class-finder answers, and calculator state may use local browser storage. KINA does not automatically upload that device-local state.
How does the site use analytics?
Public pages load Google Analytics 4 cookie-based measurement with Consent Mode analytics_storage granted, and detailed analytics are enabled by default for every visitor: Google Tag Manager loads with the page, GA4 receives the full page_location including query parameters together with the page_referrer, and approved custom feature events are sent. If you reject analytics cookies, analytics_storage changes to denied, only cookieless basic measurement remains, Google Tag Manager no longer loads, and GA4 receives a page_location limited to the origin and page path without query parameters with an empty page_referrer. Cloudflare and Google may still handle the connection IP briefly while establishing HTTPS connections, serving the page, or deriving an approximate region. Google states that GA4 does not log or store individual IP addresses.
Under the default detailed-analytics mode (version 2 terms), KINA retains page paths and feature actions as a pseudonymous journey for up to 30 days. A record can include the connection IP encrypted at rest, server-side HMACs of random visitor and session IDs, country, coarse device/browser/operating-system categories, and allowlisted utm_source, utm_medium, and utm_campaign values. KINA does not retain full user-agent strings, referrer URLs, complete query strings, URL fragments, names, or signed-in accounts. The encrypted IP is decrypted only when needed in the protected admin console, and expired records are removed during later ingestion.
What is stored when I submit a correction?
A correction report stores its category, message, page and language context, optional evidence URL, optional contact detail, and timestamp. The API creates a hashed identifier for abuse rate-limiting; the report table does not store the raw IP address. Reports are retained as needed for editorial review, and no fixed deletion period is currently promised.
What choices do I have?
Detailed analytics are enabled by default and require no action; you can use the Analytics choices control at the lower-left of a page at any time to reject analytics cookies. When you reject, KINA uses the device-local visitor ID to request deletion of pseudonymous journey records and their encrypted IP values still inside the 30-day retention window, then clears that ID. Daily totals can no longer be connected to an individual visitor. Rejecting analytics cookies changes analytics_storage to denied, clears accessible GA cookies, leaves only cookieless measurement, and stops writing the detailed IP or personal journey to the database. NC, Steam, Google, and other external sites apply their own policies after you follow a link. You can also clear cookies and local storage, and leave the optional report-contact field blank.
